Course Outline
Timeline:
1:00 - 1:10 pm Introduction of Speaker and Opening Remarks
1:10 - 4:00 pm Didactic Presentation
4:00-4:15 pm Q&A/evaluations
Topic:
Antisemitism, or discrimination towards Jewish people, is considered one of the world’s oldest forms of hatred. Despite Jewish people only representing 2% of the U.S. population, antisemitic incidents accounted for more than half of religion-based hate crimes in 2022 (FBI, 2022). The insidious nature of antisemitism can be difficult to identify, resulting in an adverse impact on the mental health of Jewish patients. Yet, many clinicians report a lack of knowledge in addressing issues around antisemitism. The purpose of this webinar is to provide participants with a background and understanding of antisemitism and provide trauma-informed guidelines for addressing it in clients.
Learning Objectives:
1. Identify three ways antisemitism can manifest in society, media, and politics.
2. Name five potential impacts of antisemitism on mental health, particularly through the lens of community and generational trauma.
3. Identify three effective responses and tools to address antisemitism in professional and clinical contexts.
