Donate to the Psychology Student of Color Equity Award

The SBCPA Diversity, Inclusion and Social Justice Committee is pleased to announce the Psychology Student of Color Equity Award for two students of color attending a Clinical and/or Counseling Psychology PhD Program in Santa Barbara County. As an organization, we recognize the critical need for more clinical psychologists from diverse backgrounds. APA has also recently highlighted this sentiment and has stated that the field of psychology as a whole has been remiss in its failure to adequately encourage and support the possibility for increased diversity amongst psychologists. This award is one small way that we hope to put action where our values lie. A student applying for this stipend will be asked to submit a complete application, which will include a written statement and a letter of recommendation. The Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice committee members will then review and evaluate the applications and choose two recipients.

We invite our members to join this unique effort to provide support to future psychologists of color in our Santa Barbara County community. Please consider contributing to this Equity Award by making an online donation. Your contributions will allow us to support additional doctoral students in the future and increase what we can offer recipients.
