Steven Samrock is a doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology at Arizona State University and pre-doctoral health psychology intern at University of California - Santa Barbara's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Steven's research focuses on the mental health and well-being of sexual and gender minority populations, particularly through the development and evaluation of psychosocial interventions. His experience spans supporting large-scale U.S. NIH-funded projects and coordinating international research collaborations, equipping him with the skills to contribute effectively to interdisciplinary research aimed at improving health outcomes for marginalized populations. Steven has published work exploring the efficacy of motivational interviewing interventions aimed at reducing HIV risk behaviors and substance use. His research also examines the role of nature connectedness, mindfulness, self-compassion, and social support in mitigating mental health challenges. In Steven's doctoral dissertation, he focused on examining the relationship between environmental exposure, nature connectedness, and anxiety in sexual minority adults, offering insights into how these factors intersect to impact mental health outcomes in this population.
